Liverpool move for Chelsea target

Jurgen Klopp has sounded out long-term Chelsea target Alex Teixeira as his solution to the lack of goals in his attack, according to the Mail Online.

The Shakhtar Donetsk attacker has been valued at £29m and the Brazilian is keen to move to abroad in order to enhance his chance of being selected for full national team.

Teixeira, who has represented Brazil at youth level, is yet to be capped by the senior side.

The Reds have sent a club delegation, which included Chief Executive Ian Ayre, to Orlando, where Shakhtar are currently playing in the Florida Cup to discuss a move for the playmaker.

A report in the Guardian has also emerged which indicates that Liverpool have made a bid of €32m (£24.6m) for the player, although Shakhtar are looking for around £30m.

The Brazilian was left out of the squad to face Corinthians on Wednesday night.

He has caught the attention, as per Goal, of potential suitors across Europe, including Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus with some eye-catching performances in the Champions League.

The Express had claimed that Chelsea were closing in on signing the player, but any deal between the struggling Premier League side looked to be pushed back towards the summer, so Liverpool appear to have decided to swoop in.
