Liverpool went top of their Champions League group on Tuesday, after beating Genk 2-1 at Anfield.
It was a night that saw Jurgen Klopp rested a few of his key players for the gigantic game against Manchester City on Sunday – the performance suffered because of it.
Gini Wijnaldum and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were the goalscorers for the Reds, while the Belgian side did equalise at one point through Mbwana Samatta.
In the 14th minute, after a fairly comfortable start, Liverpool took the lead when a James Milner cross into the box eventually found Wijnaldum, who flicked his shot into the roof of the net.
Just before half-time, Genk shocked Anfield with a goal from Samatta, heading in at the near post from a corner.
The Reds regained their lead early in the second half when Mohamed Salah found Oxlade-Chamberlain, who fired an effort into the Kop net.
The home side did have other chances to kill the game off, but they were lacking sharpness in the final third.
Here’s how we thought Liverpool’s players rated after the game…
