Liverpool had to work hard but got the job done when they defeated Norwich City 1-0 at Carrow Road on Saturday evening to go 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
Sadio Mane came off the bench to score the only goal of the game. The home side defended well prior to that, but the Reds found a way yet again.
All the talk pre-match was about how Storm Dennis could have impacted the game. However, as soon as the fixture was underway, it was all about two teams fighting it out on the pitch.
Jurgen Klopp’s men had a couple of half-chances in the opening half an hour, but they weren’t flowing in the final third.
Norwich had a chance to get the ball into the net, but Alisson made a fine scooping intervention.
The away side upped their tempo after the break and had a couple of really good chances, but they were not clinical enough.
Finally, 12 minutes from time, Jordan Henderson picked out Mane with a fantastic clipped pass. The latter got the ball under control and smashed his effort in.
Thereafter, Roberto Firmino had a chance to wrap things up, but he couldn’t control his finish.
Klopp’s men held onto the lead to send the away fans into party mood at Carrow Road.
