Liverpool cruised to yet another Premier League win as they dispatched of Sheffield United 2-0 at Anfield on Thursday, going 13 points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand.
Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane scored the goals for the Reds in a routine win over an in-form Blades side.
After a fast start to the game, Liverpool took the lead in the fourth minute, when a long ball from Virgil van Dijk found Andy Robertson’s run in behind a stumbling George Baldock.
The Scot then had the composure to wait for Salah’s run and find him with the right pass, and the Reds’ No.11 did the rest.
The Egyptian was denied a second by a superb save from Dean Henderson moments later, as he redeemed himself after making a horrendous mistake at Bramall Lane when the two sides last met.
Liverpool doubled their lead in the second half, though, when Mane and Salah combined for the former to score.
United had a chance to half the deficit in the 85th minute, but Oli McBurnie somehow couldn’t stretch enough to put the ball into the back of an unguarded net.
All in all, it was a perfect start to 2020 for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Here’s how we rated their players after the game…
