Liverpool are ready to make a move to sign Red Bull Salzburg’s Takumi Minamino in January, according to Paul Joyce of The Times.
The Japanese international impressed plenty of Liverpool fans in his two appearances against the Reds in the Champions League this season and according to Joyce, he also impressed Jurgen Klopp.
The Japanese star has a release clause of just £7.25 million and it looks like the Reds are ready to pay that fee in January.
The 24-year-old has apparently been on Liverpool’s radar for some time but his performances this season have been a contributing factor in them deciding to make a move.
According to Joyce’s report, some of Liverpool senior players went as far as to mention Minamino to the club’s coaching staff as they were so impressed by him.
Liverpool don’t usually want to do business in January but such is their desire to have Minamino, they’re willing to make an exception like they did when they signed Virgil van Dijk.
