Suso
Spain Under 21 midfielder Suso has enjoyed his time at La Liga side Almeria, despite his sides results and has been highly influential for them, picking up 5 assists thus far this season. However, Suso started on the bench for his loan side last week and came on as an 85th minute substitute when he replaced Oscar Diaz in their 1-0 win away to bottom of the table Real Betis. Suso did have an opportunity to make it 2-0 in injury time, but his right footed drive was comfortably saved by Betis ‘keeper Guillermo Sara. Their 4th victory of the season sees Almeria rise to 16th in La Liga as they head into the winter break. Almeria’s next game will be on Saturday 4th January when they host 12th placed Granada as Suso will be hoping to start the New year off better than he ended 2013.
Conor Coady
Under 21 captain Conor Coady’s loan spell at Sheffield United is coming to an end next month, and he has had an ever changing status at Sheffield United. When he arrived, he was often on the bench, then when he broke into the starting line up, Coady played in an unfamiliar right wing position. After a successful run of games, Coady then moved to his more preferred central midfield position. However, Coady was only an unused substitute and he could only watch as his side play out a goalless draw away to relegation rivals Stevenage on Saturday. Coady was also an unused substitute in Sheffield United’s Boxing Day draw at home to Stevenage. Coady will be looking to force his way back into the starting line-up when Nigel Clough’s side host Tranmere Rovers, which includes Liverpool’s very own Kris Peterson.
Craig Roddan
Under 21 holding midfielder Craig Roddan recently joined Carlisle until January. However after a couple of substitute appearances, Roddan has failed to make any impact whatsoever and was surprisingly not in the match day squad when Carlisle travelled to Walsall on Saturday. The game ended 2-0 to Walsall. Roddan was also an unused substitute for Walsall’s Boxing Day defeat at home to Preston North End and will more than likely be on the substitutes bench when Carlisle host 5th placed Peterborough on Sunday 29th December.
Kris Peterson
Under 18/Under 21 winger Kris Peterson joined League One side Tranmere Rovers last month, and has thoroughly impressed since his arrival. Peterson again started for his loan side and played 72 minutes before being replaced by Andy Robinson in their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Gillingham on Friday night. Peterson did have a chance to give Tranmere the lead when his long range effort went wide of Gillingham ‘keeper Stuart Nelson‘s goal when the score was 0-0. 5 days later, Peterson again played another 90 minutes as his Tranmere side got back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory away to Shrewsbury. Peterson picked up his first caution for his new side after a foul on Joe Jacobson in the 74th minute. The Swede did have one chance in the 50th minute, but his shot was well saved by Shrewsbury ‘keeper Chris Weale. Peterson will be looking to continue his great start for his loan side when his side, who are 19th in League One, travel to relegation threatened Sheffield United who are 1 place below them in 20th.
Andre Wisdom
England Under 21 captain Andre Wisdom joined Derby County on a season long loan and has been one of their stand-out performers so far this term, with a few man of the match awards and shortlisted for player of the month in November. Wisdom, who has been playing in a right-back position for the Rams played the full 90 minutes at full back when his Derby side beat 20th placed Doncaster 3-1. The win was Derby’s 7th in a row and that sees them rise to 4th in the Championship. Unfortunately for Wisdom and his Derby team-mates, they could not make it 8 from 8 as they drew 1-1 away to Huddlesfield Town. Wisdom again played the full 90 minutes at right back and set up a chance for Chris Martin in the 10th minute, but the forward could not convert. Wisdom and his team-mates will be looking to get back to winning ways when Derby travel to bottom of the table Barnsley.
Jack Robinson
England Under 21 left back Jack Robinson again played the full 90 minutes as his Blackpool side lost to Lancashire rivals Burnley, who rise to the top of the Championship. Robinson has been a regular starter for Blackpool when he has not been suspended and was a key man in Paul Ince’s defence. Robinson defended well, but after conceding a corner in the 7th minute, Burnley capitalised as reported Liverpool target Danny Ings slotted home to give Burnley the lead. The fullback again played another 90 minutes for Blackpool in their 1-1 home draw with Leeds. Robinson seemed to get forward more in this game and created a lot more chances. Firstly, Robinson’s left-footed effort in the 50th minute was charged down before his fierce drive in the 55th minute went high and wide of Paddy Kenny’s goal. Robinson then turned provider in the 60th minute when his cross was met by Kirk Broadfoot, but his effort went just wide. Robinson will be looking to build on this performance when Brighton travel to Bloomfield Road on Sunday, which sees 9th against 10th.
Adam Morgan
19 year old forward Adam Morgan recently joined Championship side Yeovil Town for a month with a view to a permanent deal. Morgan did enjoy a good run in the side but after failing to score in 3 games he is being used on the substitutes bench. Unfortunately, this continued for Morgan, who was an unused substitute in Yeovil’s 1-0 defeat at home to 11th placed Blackburn. Things went from bad to worse for Morgan who wasn’t even in the match day squad for Yeovil’s 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth. This may be because of injury or lack of form but Morgan will be looking to play some part in Yeovil’s next game which is against 14th placed Huddlesfield Town, who picked up a point against Andre Wisdom’s Derby.
Krisztian Adorjan
The Hungarian Under 21 midfielder has had a mixed time at Eredivisie side Groningen, as he starts one game and then he may be on the substitutes bench for the next. Adorjan played twice in 3 days against the same opponents in the form on NEC. They first met in the 4th round of the Dutch KNVB Cup where NEC won the game 1-0. However, Adorjan and Groningen got their revenge on Saturday when they beat bottom of the league NEC 5-2. Adorjan started in that game, and played 71 minutes in the victory before being replaced by defender Tom Hiariej. With the victory, Groningen remain 6th in the Eredivisie as they head into the winter break. Groningen’s next domestic match will be on Saturday 18th January, when they travel to 14th placed RKC Waalwijk, a game where Adorjan will be looking to feature.
