Loan watch: How did Liverpool’s loan players fare at the weekend?

Georginio Wijnaldum and James Milner scored one apiece in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Cardiff, but with the title now out of Liverpool’s hands, attention turns to Wednesday night’s Manchester Derby.

Nevertheless, let’s see how the players out on loan away from Merseyside got on in their games at the weekend.

Danny Ings – Southampton

Ings played 76 minutes up top before being replaced by Shane Long for Southampton as they were defeated 3-1 by Newcastle away at St. James’ Park.

Ayoze Perez scored a hat-trick and Mario Lemina scored for the Saints as they remained in 16th place in the Premier League.

But Wilson scored two very late goals for Derby in their second game on Monday night to ensure they claimed all three points in their 2-0 Championship clash against QPR at home.

The Welshman played the full game at right wing as he was once again Frank Lampard’s star man.

Thanks to Wilson, Derby moved up to sixth place in the promotion play-off places in the Championship after the two games.
