Following Liverpool’s fully deserved 1-0 home defeat in the second-leg of their EFL Cup semi-final against Southampton, so much has been said about their poor form since the turn of the year.
The Reds have only won once in seven games – with their title challenge already perishing fast, and the club beginning to get on the radar of the media for all the wrong reasons.
Liverpool topped the league on November 6th, after a 6-1 trouncing of Watford at Anfield, but since then, Jurgen Klopp’s side have floundered on several fronts – the Reds have dropped points against Southampton, Bournemouth, West Ham, Sunderland & Swansea City in the Premier League.
However, Liverpool are yet to be defeated against a side in the top six, and what will worry manager Jurgen Klopp more than anything is the continued complacency going into games against the ‘lesser’ teams which has not been eradicated.
Wednesday’s midweek defeat to Southampton in the EFL Cup proved yet another setback, in what is at risk of becoming another faltering Liverpool season without Champions League football, and coming off the rails completely.
Whilst the season isn’t completely over, Jurgen Klopp has missed his first shot of silverware at the club, and the omens aren’t good; Klopp had never lost his last six semi finals as manager
It’ll take a big push from Liverpool in the FA Cup & in the Premier League to pull of a season that constitutes as a success once more.
