Nasri prefers Mahrez over “individual player” Salah

Former Manchester City playmaker Samir Nasri has revealed that he prefers Riyad Mahrez over Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

Mahrez got his name on the scoresheet for City during Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Leicester City, whilst Salah helped the Reds to Club World Cup glory.

Nasri feels that Salah is not as much as a team player as the Algerian. As quoted on Tribal Football, Nasri said:

Between Mahrez and Salah, I would prefer to work alongside Mahrez. Why? Because he is Algerian and I also like his style of play.

Mahrez is a collective player, while Salah is much more an individual player. He only aspires to score goals. I wouldn’t say Salah is selfish, but he runs behind goals and statistics.

Mahrez, meanwhile, you can play a one-two with him. He is a player with whom you can easily develop.

Salah has earned a reputation of being a little bit ‘greedy’ in recent months, especially after his bust-up with Sadio Mane at Turf Moor.

The Egyptian international has become obsessed with scoring goals and that sometimes can be mistaken for being more of an individual player than a team player.

He’s also provided some wonderful assists recently and links up brilliantly on multiple occasions with teammates. So you might want to rethink, Samir.
