Ojo out to follow in Ibe’s footsteps

Ojo out to follow in Ibe’s footsteps

Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo is looking to follow in Jordon Ibe’s footsteps in going from a Championship loan to the Liverpool first team.

Ojo is currently on loan at Wolves in the Championship and has been in good form, scoring twice in 13 matches. This has drawn comparisons to Ibe’s loan at Derby County last season.

Ibe played 20 times for Derby last season, scoring five goals. His fine form in the Championship led to him being brought into the first team picture by then Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and Ibe has since gone on to make 22 appearances for the Reds in the Premier League.

Now Ojo, 18, who is just one year younger than Ibe, wants to progress in a similar way to the current Liverpool regular and keep up his good Wolves form to put himself in Jurgen Klopp’s plans.

He (Ibe) went out on loan last season and then got recalled back so it goes to show that if you do well on loan you get the chance to be called back and go straight into the first team.

That’s my main aim to keep doing well and I do get the call back, I just need to impress the manager.

I’m learning now at Wolves and getting more experience but the main aim is to come back and impress the manager, and hopefully I can start playing for Liverpool on a regular basis.
