Players Liverpool Should Go For After The World Cup

It’s been one of the best World Cups of all time in the eyes of many this summer. The action in Russia has been edge of the seat stuff throughout, with plenty of shocks thrown in for good measure. We’ve seen good teams exit and we’ve also seen players come to the fore in Russia and this will no doubt have put some top clubs on alert. One of those sides will undoubtedly be Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, so let’s take a look at which players they should go for when the tournament ends.

Yerry Mina

Yerry Mina is a 23-year-old Colombian centre-back who was one of the South American side’s top performers in Russia. The imposing 6’5” defender left Brazilian side Palmeiras in January to join La Liga giants Barcelona but only featured 6 times in all competitions. Nevertheless, he headed to Russia with Columbia and formed a great partnership with Tottenham’s Davison Sanchez. Mina managed to score three goals at the World Cup, with one being the equaliser against England, before Columbia crashed out on penalties.

Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire, 25, has been one of England’s most outstanding performers in Russia so far as the Three Lions prepare to do battle with Croatia for a place in the World Cup final. The 6’4” centre back has proven there is a lot more to his game than just old-fashioned defending as he has regularly displayed great composure in possession and looked to drive forward out of defence. Liverpool could do with a quality partner for Virgil van Dijk ahead of the new season and both Maguire and Mina would certainly fit that bill.

Aleksandr Golovin

CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin has been something of a revelation at the World Cup in Russia. The central midfielder has gone from a relative unknown to a player admired by many top clubs around the world after scoring one and assisting two in the four appearances he made for Russia. At 22 years old he is being tipped by many as a future star but he’s already displaying an understanding of the game far beyond his years. While initially, it was thought he may be available for around £10million, it has since come to light there is a £30million release clause in his contract which may need to be activated.

Hirving Lozano

During the group stages for Mexico Hirving Lozano provided some real moments of excitement. The 22-year-old PSV Eindhoven winger showed a great turn of pace and trickery as he scored one and set one up over the course of the four games he played in. His displays saw him immediately catch the eye of big European clubs and his ability to play anywhere across the front line will certainly be appealing to many, especially Liverpool who would be the perfect fit for Lozano formation wise. With Mino Raiola acting as his agent, we’ll undoubtedly see him on the move soon.

There is no doubt that the World Cup 2018 has brought to the fore the talents of many players, who will undoubtedly attract attention from the best clubs in the world.
