After a gruelling outing in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday, Liverpool will be hoping they are still fresh when they face Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday afternoon.
Even though Jurgen Klopp’s men won the trophy in Istanbul, it wasn’t without playing 120 minutes of high-intensity football on a dodgy pitch.
It is, therefore, fairly clear that their preparations for the Southampton visit aren’t ideal. But if the Reds are to keep up their 100 percent record, they need to be ready to face several types of situations along the way.
In terms of team news, Adrian, who was Liverpool’s shootout hero on Wednesday, injured his ankle when a fan barged into him while celebrating. He is a doubt for this game.
Fabinho suffered cramp during extra-time of the Super Cup and he is expected to get a rest on Saturday.
Nathaniel Clyne is also a long-term absentee and Naby Keita injured his muscle while training on Tuesday.
Here’s how we think Klopp may line his team up for the game against Southampton…
