Reliable journalist says Leverkusen are ‘expecting’ Liverpool to bid for Havertz

Bayer Leverkusen believe Liverpool will make an offer for Kai Havertz, according to Sport Bild’s Head of Football Christian Falk.

When responding to a question regarding which English club are keen on signing Havertz, Falk said Leverkusen are ‘expecting’ Liverpool to make an offer.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the 20-year-old, as have both Manchester United and Manchester City.

The midfielder is valued at £81 million by Transfermarkt, but the German club reportedly want £109 million for his services.

I believe Havertz would be a magnificent addition to Liverpool’s squad, bringing with him technical brilliance and long-term potential.

The youngster has scored four goals and registered two assists in the Bundesliga this season, while his 86.5 percent passing accuracy is impressive, suggesting he would excel in a Liverpool team that often has more of the ball than the opposition. The Reds enjoyed 71 percent of the ball in Wednesday’s 2-0 win at West Ham, for example.

I think Havertz would bring something different to Liverpool’s midfield – a level of guile that I don’t think the likes of Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum possess.

He averages 2.4 key passes per game in the Bundesliga this season, whereas Henderson (1.0) and Wijnaldum (0.3) average considerably less in the Premier League.

Time will tell if Liverpool will make an offer, like Falk suggests, but if Jurgen Klopp is looking to freshen up his midfield options, Havertz looks like he can add a bit of creativity to the Reds’ squad.
