Robbie Savage was involved in a debate with a Manchester City supporter who claimed Liverpool were only so far clear in the league because of VAR.
Talking to the caller on BBC Radio 5 Live, Savage shut down the claim that every club in the Premier League has dropped points because of VAR this season, apart from Liverpool.
Twitter: “Get over it Gary, your 2⃣2⃣ points behind one of the greatest teams EVER – and you’re on about VAR!”… https://t.co/Ceb3rHm2TS (@5liveSport)
READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT
This supporter’s reluctance to accept Liverpool’s superiority over the rest of the league this season is incredibly surprising in my opinion.
Liverpool are 22 points clear at the top of the league because of how good a side they are under Jurgen Klopp, not because they’ve consistently benefited from VAR decisions.
As Savage rightly states, this Liverpool side have to be considered as one of the best Premier League teams having picked up 100 points from the last 102 available in the league.
Furthermore, Klopp’s men also set a record for the biggest lead at the top of the table in English top flight history, further emphasising how dominant the Reds currently are.
