Rodgers favourite for the sack

Following Liverpool’s second consecutive defeat at Old Trafford on Saturday, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been installed as the favourite to be the next Premier League manager to be axed.

According to Tom Sheen of the Independent, the vast majority of the UK’s major bookmakers now have Rodgers at the shortest odds of the 20 top-flight bosses.

Even Dick Advocaat, who is currently at the helm of rock-bottom Sunderland, is less likely to be fired if you believe what the bookies are saying.

This revelation comes as a result of two heavy losses, which have seen the Reds ship six goals and score only once.

Although the West Ham result was terrible, especially as the game was played at Anfield, it seems that Saturday’s timid performance against Manchester United has spurred the bookmakers into life, with thousands of fans calling for Rodgers’ head on social media.

After a wholly uneventful first 45 minutes, only one side improved when they returned to the field for the second half. United bagged three goals and sealed the three points.

Christian Benteke’s wondrous strike to get Liverpool onto the score-sheet was the only highlight on a dismal day for the Merseysiders.

Interestingly, Rodgers is joined by Jose Mourinho near the top of the ‘next to be sacked’ pile, a result of Chelsea having a torrid start to the 2015-16 campaign.
