After an impressive pre-season, England Under-20 international Jordan Ibe was loaned out to Derby County for the 2014-2015 campaign in order to gain experience of first team football.
At just 19, his raw talent, combined with his natural flair, exciting pace and clever trickery has resulted in 5 goals and 1 assist from 19 league appearances including a couple of top class goals cutting in from the left wing.
This has got many Liverpool fans asking whether or not he should be recalled early in January in order to bolster the attacking options in what has been a disappointing start to the season.
It is clear to see that without the penetration coming as easily through the middle of the pitch, creating chances from the wide areas needs to be improved and so far, the likes of Markovic, Lallana, Sterling, Coutinho and even wing backs Manquillo and Moreno have not been consistent enough.
With the notable absence of Daniel Sturridge, Raheem Sterling has sometimes been used as the lone striker leaving question marks over who should fill these wide positions.
With Lallana starting to shine in recent weeks, his injury against Leicester was a particular setback, however recalling Jordan Ibe may not be the answer.
If he was to be recalled, he would not yet merit a regular starting position and with Lallana and Sturridge due to return in the coming weeks, staying at Derby County and getting regular first team exposure may stand in him a much better stead than coming off the bench for 20 minute bursts or being an unused sub for Liverpool.
However, it is very pleasing to see the performances that he is producing in a very physical and competitive league and if his form continues for Derby, he has a very strong chance to hit the ground running, ready to seriously challenge for a first team place next season.
