Six players who have a point to prove in pre-season

Liverpool head into pre-season ahead of the 2019/20 campaign looking to go one step further in the Premier League after finishing one point behind champions Manchester City last season, and Jurgen Klopp will also no doubt be targeting back-to-back Champions League triumphs.

The Reds have little time to rest ahead of the new season, with their first pre-season friendly against Tranmere set for 11 July, before an outing against Bradford City three days later.

Klopp’s side then travel to the United States for matches against his former side Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla and Sporting Lisbon respectively, before ties against Napoli and Lyon conclude their pre-season friendly schedule.

Liverpool will face last season’s title rivals City in the Community Shield in August, looking to win their first piece of silverware in the 2019/20 curtain raiser.

And ahead of what is set to be another fascinating campaign, we’ve taken a look at six Liverpool players who will have a point to prove in pre-season.
