Sunderland have reportedly agreed a deal with Liverpool for Fabio Borini for the second summer running, after Sky Sports claimed that the Black Cats have managed to agree a £10m deal to take their former loanee to the Stadium of Light on a permanent deal.
It could soon mean the end of weeks of speculation about the Italian striker’s future and take him back to the club where he had one of his most effective spells.
The north-east club originally agreed a deal for the player last summer, but he rejected a permanent move there in favour of remaining at Anfield.
He’d spent the previous season on Wearside, scoring seven in 32, his joint-highest goal tally for a single season ever.
Now, though, he could be on his way back permanently. Previous reports from Tony Barrett of The Times suggested that the fee could be comprised of an initial £8m fee, with an extra £2m in add-ons.
Borini has played 38 times in all competitions for Liverpool since his move from Roma three years ago, scoring three times.
