Nine years ago to the day, a young Spanish striker by the name of Fernando Torres put pen to paper on a Liverpool Football Club contract.
Four years later, Torres would leave heralded, praised, adored, and disgraced.
The fall from grace of Liverpool’s star man was precipitated by Torres’ decision to move to Chelsea.
To see one so loved walk out the door to a team so loathed was too much for some Liverpool fans to cope with.
However, as Torres returned to Anfield for Steven Gerrard’s testimonial in 2015, El Niño was welcomed back by the Kop with open arms.
