Which position would LeBron play for Liverpool?

LeBron James does not go unnoticed when he interacts on social media. With 31 million followers on Twitter, 23 million on Instagram and 22 million on Facebook, he’s quite a popular chap!

So when he posts a message on one of his pages with a Liverpool top, his name and the number six on the back of it with a little message, it caused quite a stir!

The big man fancies a game for the Reds, does he?

With LeBron’s obvious and public outcry for a transfer to Anfield we might see more stars from other sports wanting a go as well, we could end up with some sort of super dream team of athletes. A real life Space Jam would be nice, all the big lads, that’s probably Sam Allardyce’s dream.

But since no one else is BRAVE enough to want to make the switch like our boy LeBron, then we will just focus on him here.

The Reds fanbase are always screaming out for a marquee signing, well here you go, you can’t really get much bigger than this fella!

You could sign Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, but would that really be that much craic? Can they boast four MVPs and 12 NBA All-stars? Nope, they cannot.

You really can’t ignore this, Liverpool Football Club, this is an opportunity that must be taken. The man is on a path to actual sports greatness.

I can hear the laughter from you folks, I can hear the comments already coming my way. You are doubting me, I know it.

But listen up, I have an ingenious plan. It’s so obvious that the position we need him in is the one position that maybe needs a little bit of backup.

Left back

Left back for King James lads and ladies.

Left back seems to be an area of nuisance with Liverpool fans at the minute. Certainly on Twitter anyway. Poor Alberto Moreno gets highly scrutinised, I personally feel unfairly so, but this issue will be left to discuss another day.

Back to the pressing matter of pulling off the greatest signing in the history of signings. Think about King James at full back for a minute. He’s massive and he’s powerful and we need height and power at full-back. Remember West Ham last season? All of those fecking tortuous games. The Hammers continuously lumping balls into the back post and poor Nathaniel Clyne and Albie Moreno getting done in by the Giants of Upton Park.

Wel,l that ain’t happening anymore!

Just picture LeBron rising high above Andy Carroll to clear his lines. Little Dimitri “the knee” Payet getting shoulder charged into submission and poor, poor Manuel Lanzini being hit with the “LEBRON SAYS NO” time and time again. Beautiful. He would also play against other teams. I’m not a mad-man, I wouldn’t just sign him to play against Slaven Bilic’s side!

My only concern with playing Lebron at full-back is his positional sense. I’m not sure he would be able to last a full 90 in Klopp’s Gegenpressing style and we might kill him.

Yes, basketball is fast paced but it’s stops and starts and only lasts a total of 60 playing minutes. We would also have the whole city of Cleveland on our backs who would naturally want him back undead, so it might mean rotating with Moreno a fair bit.

This article is completely legitimate and in no way sarcastic or make-believe.

LeBron’s a red.

YNWA.
