Why a move for Rashica makes no sense for Liverpool

Liverpool remain interested in signing Werder Bremen star Milot Rashica, according to DeichStube, as translated by Sport Witness.

The Reds have been linked with the 23-year-old recently, viewing him as a potential attacking addition in the summer.

This latest update says they are still monitoring his progress, as are Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.

I don’t see Rashica joining Liverpool this summer, especially with Timo Werner seemingly such a big transfer target. He might not be needed if that deal goes through, with the money being spent on improving other areas of the squad.

In many ways, I think the Kosovo international could end up actually replacing Werner at Leipzig, or at least partly filling the void left by the Reds target, as someone who is familiar with the Bundesliga and can play across the frontline.

Should Werner head to Anfield, fitting Rashica into the squad as well could be tricky, especially with Takumi Minamino tipped to play a more prominent figure next season.

The Japanese is being eased in by Jurgen Klopp, as the likes of Andy Robertson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Fabinho were, but I expect him to feature more prominently next season.
