Atletico, however, are determined to keep the player at the club, but if they can’t then at least make sure that they get as much as they can out of the deal.

Oblak’s reputation has been growing and growing since his move to Spain in 2014 from Benfica and has attracted a host of clubs in him.

He was part of the Madrid club who won the Europa League title last night thanks to a 3-0 win over Marseille in Lyon.

With Liverpool also being in the Champions League ahead of Arsenal it gives them a further boost in their pursuit of the player.

Atletico chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin has explained their plans to keep the player at the club:

“We’re going to try to increase Oblak’s clause, but what we have to do is trust him,”

“We know he wants to stay and we want him to stay.”
