Philippe Coutinho is subject to some pretty strong interest from Barcelona this summer as the La Liga giants look to bring in the Brazilian playmaker to help recapture the title lost to Real Madrid last season.
This won’t come as a surprise, but Liverpool have absolutely no desire to even entertain bids for the 25-year-old this summer and remain confident that he will stay at the club for the foreseeable future.
Liverpool would likely demand a world-record fee for Coutinho should the player himself signal his intent to leave, but Barcelona are looking to sweeten the pot for the Reds, with Spanish outlet Diario Gol claiming that the Catalan side are ready to send Ivan Rakitic to Anfield as part of the deal.
Rakitic has been a regular and consistent performer for Barcelona since arriving from Sevilla in 2014 but he would likely have to make way for Coutinho in the starting lineup, so Barcelona are trying to kill two birds with one stone by simply offering him up on a plate to Jurgen Klopp.
While it cannot be questioned that Rakitic would be a valued asset to the Reds, unless Ernesto Valverde is willing to send Messi to Merseyside, there really is no deal that can be struck between the clubs for Coutinho.
