Spanish La Liga club Barcelona are preparing to trigger the £72m release clause in the contract of Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio who has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League side Liverpool this summer, according to a report on the Express.
The young Spanish International is seen as one of the best talents in the Real Madrid squad and has become a first team player after fantastic performances last season when given his opportunity by manager Zinedine Zidane.

News outlet Diario Gol claim that is form last season has had many top European clubs interested in securing his signature and Liverpool were th=e main side being linked with Asensio, but Barcelona want him to replace Neymar.
Asensio was linked to a move to the Premier League in April but he brushed off the rumours and claimed he was happy at the Spanish capital.
In the end I do not think about other teams or if I could play in other teams, I always think about Madrid.
I found it difficult at first, but you have to work in the training sessions and be prepared to take advantage of the opportunity when it comes.

The Catalan club have been targeting Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho but their attentions could now be turned to Asensio, who is a cheaper and younger alternative who also has experience in the La Liga as well as the UEFA Champions League.
