Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne has withdrawn from the latest England squad through injury.

The defender is believed to be suffering from a back injury and will now miss the upcoming games against Scotland and France.

The Three Lions are due to play Scotland in a World Cup qualifier before playing France in a friendly just a few days later.

It’s yet to be reported as to whether or not England manager Gareth Southgate will look to replace Clyne, but with the likes of Ryan Bertrand, Aaron Cresswell, Kieran Trippier and Kyle Waker already in the squad, there may be sufficient depth.

If needed, one option to replace Clyne could be Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs, who was close to being selected originally, only to miss out to West Ham’s Cresswell.
