Jurgen Klopp has spoken about how he rejected an offer to manage another Premier League club before he arrived at Anfield.
The German manager was taking part in a question and answer session with South African Liverpool fans on Thursday. During this session he said (via The Mirror):
I had an offer of another historic English club two years ago.
It didn’t feel right. When Liverpool called, I can’t explain it. It was right.
Klopp has suited Liverpool well, with the Reds looking to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages and fighting well domestically.
However, Klopp has insisted during the question and answer session, that during his time at Anfield, he wishes to bring the first league title since 1989-90 to Anfield.
According to Klopp, the owners of Liverpool FC, Fenway Sports Group, are happy with him and the progress of the club under the management of Klopp.
During the session, he also spoke about the difference between winning the Champions League and the Premier League.
There are two teams in Europe that are owned by countries, so it makes it difficult to win the Champions League. But in England, we can win the Premier League, but we need a bit of luck.
So Klopp thinks he can win the league at Liverpool, a club that felt right for him. Time will tell if he is able to or not.
