Liverpool battle Dortmund for Dahoud

Liverpool will have to fend off interest from Borussia Dortmund if they wish to sign highly-rated Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Dortmund are eager to sign Dahoud as well and will offer €15m to sign him, and send Nuri Sahin to Monchengladbach in the process.

Jurgen Klopp spent the majority of the summer trying to strike a deal with Monchengladbach for the German midfielder but ultimately failed to agree terms to a transfer.

Dahoud, who has attracted interest from many of Europe’s elite clubs, is tipped to leave Monchengladbach in the near future and it seems Dortmund have the inside track on the deal.

Dortmund are willing to offer one-time Liverpool loanee Nuri Sahin to their Bundesliga rivals as part of the deal, with Thomas Tuchel having no place for the midfielder in his first-team plans this season.

Without an equally as good makeweight to offer in the deal, Klopp could be forced to dig deeper into his pockets and offer in excess of €20m if he wishes to secure Dahoud’s signature.
