Liverpool linked with Gabriel Barbosa

Liverpool still want to add to their attack this summer and are mentioned as one of several Premier League clubs looking to sign Inter Milan forward Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa.

Bleacher Report claim that the Reds are among eight Premier League clubs that have expressed an interest in signing the Brazilian this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham, Everton, Southampton, Leicester City, Stoke City and Swansea City are the seven other clubs chasing his signature.

Barbosa would not meet work-permit criteria as it stands, an issue West Ham are fearful of, but Liverpool along with the chasing pack have all made inroads into finding out whether they stand a chance of securing that work-permit on appeal.

Signed a five-year contract with Inter last summer following a move from Santos, Gabigol scored just once in 10 appearances and has been made available for transfer this summer.

Capped four times by Brazil, the 20-year-old is regarded as one of the best young prospects in South America today and could prove to be an astute buy for Liverpool if they’re ready to firm up their interest.

Given their depth in attack, Liverpool could even afford to loan out Gabigol if they sign him until he receives a work-permit, something they have done with the likes of fellow Brazilian Allan Rodrigues in recent seasons.
