Liverpool pair in race to be ready to face Manchester United

Brazilian duo Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino face a race against time to be fully prepared for the clash against arch rivals Manchester United as they will report back to Liverpool training just 48 hours before the match, according to a report on the Liverpool Echo.

The two stars will be back at Melwood on next Thursday, with the match taking place at Saturday lunchtime.

The Reds duo are expected to start for Brazil even though they have already qualified for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be praying that both of them are left out of the starting XI by Brazil, with their final qualifying match against Chile expected to finish early on Wednesday (UK time).

Both players will then have to rush to the airport to board a private jet funded by the Merseyside club which will fly them back to Liverpool, a journey which will take approximately 12 hours.

Klopp will need both players fully fit and healthy if his side are to inflict a first league defeat of the season on Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.

The Brazilian duo will be the last of the Liverpool players to return from International duty.
