Liverpool got the better of Merseyside rivals Everton in dramatic fashion at Anfield. Divock Origi scored the winning goal in the 96th minute to win the three points for the Reds.
It was an equal game up until then, with both teams having chances to score the opening goal. Andre Gomes had a chance for the away team with a header from two yards out, but the combination of Alisson Becker and Joe Gomez denied the Portuguese.
Sadio Mane also missed two good opportunities in either half to keep the score level until the late stages in the game. However, it was in the 96th minute that the decisive moment came. Trent Alexandar-Arnold launched it towards the Everton box with hope more than anything else.
Virgil van Dijk shinned his volley and it seemed as though the game would end as a draw, but Jordan Pickford had other ideas. He made a hash of a slightly tricky save and Origi was there to pounce on the Englishman’s mistake to send Anfield and Klopp into delirium.
