Liverpool will push to sign Naby Keita next summer

Premier League side Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Guinea midfielder Naby Keita who will have a £48m release clause in his contract at the end of this season, according to a report on the Mirror.

Liverpool had been pushing hard to sign Keita with the player himself telling German Bundesliga club RB Leipzig that he wants to move to Anfield but the club refused to sell at any price.

The Merseyside club made huge bids for the midfielder but Leipzig would not budge and eventually closed the door on any potential move this summer.

Liverpool then eventually also gave up trying to negotiate with the German club and have now turned their attentions to different targets and have reserved Keita as a target for next summer’s transfer window.

However, it is likely that other major European clubs will also attempt to sign Keita so Liverpool will have to convince the player to join them. Therefore, it is vital that the Reds have a successful season.

But Leipzig have hinted that they will prefer to sell to the Merseyside club next summer which gives manager Jurgen Klopp hope, but the German club haven’t ruled out a move to another side.

“Next season it is so that Naby theoretically has the option to go,” said Leipzig’s director of sport Rangnick, as quoted by German news outlet Bild.

There will be big clubs that are also interested in him. Therefore, it will probably be difficult to keep him.
