Liverpool youngster Jerome Sinclair has sealed a move to fellow Premier League side Watford on a free transfer.
The teenage attacker joins Vicarage Road on a five-year-deal after failing to agree an extension on his contract at Anfield this summer.
He made just five first-team appearances last season, scoring on his first start in a Reds shirt against Exeter City in the FA Cup back in January.
But the 19-year-old has became frustrated at his lack of opportunities in the first-team, and opted for a switch to The Hornets – who will pay Liverpool £4m in compensation.
Sinclair joined Liverpool from West Bromwich Albion’s academy in Summer 2011 and became the club’s youngest ever player when he came on as a substitute in League Cup tie against his former club, six days after his 16th birthday.
Since then, he has continued to impress at U18s and U21s level, but like others who have came through the Anfield ranks in recent years, has failed to nail down a place in the first-team
Back in January, it was reported that Sinclair was in a contract dispute with Liverpool, and Jurgen Klopp told media that development should be more important than wages for younger players.
He said: “As a club, you cannot make younger players happy. That is not possible. It is not the first job.
“But what we try to create is a situation where younger players know it is not important to get the highest wages in your life in the first year of your career.
“It is more important to get the real education and that is what we want to try for.
“I like Jerome, he is a real talent and if he wants to stay with us then no problem. Absolutely no problem. If not, we cannot force it.”
