Solanke praises Liverpool for giving young players a chance

New Liverpool signing Dominic Solanke has aimed an indirect dig at former club Chelsea by praising the Merseyside club’s inclusion of young players in the squad, according to a report from the Mirror.

The young striker moved from Stamford Bridge to Anfield after finding himself frustrated at the London club due to a lack of opportunities with the first team.

But he is happy and excited to start life at Liverpool where he has found it easy to settle in so far, pointing out the fact that the Reds give young players a chance in the first-team as his reason for making the move.

“Every time I see Liverpool, there’s such a family nature, there’re a lot of young players doing well at the club, so I think it will be a good place for me to develop my career,” said the 19-year-old striker.

“As a young player, you always want to see the club you’re at pushing young players through.”

The forward was the star man for the England side which won the U20 World Cup this summer and his performances at that tournament led Liverpool to make a move for him.

Solanke’s only action in the senior side for Chelsea was three years ago where he was given a 17 minute run out in the UEFA Champions League.

The youngster is a huge fan of Jurgen Klopp is and is excited to begin working with his new manager.

“Every time I’ve seen him, he’s always so enthusiastic and passionate so I think that’s what you need,” said the new Liverpool forward.

“As a young player you just want to reach your full potential, so to have good players around you and a good manager to help will be really good.”

Solanke will be hoping to be involved heavily with the first team at Anfield and would love to show Chelsea what they’ve been missing out on all these years.
