Tranmere Rovers v Liverpool preview: Record signing absent

Liverpool take on Tranmere Rovers on Wednesday evening in the first outing of their pre-season campaign for 2017-18.

There will be no Mohamed Salah for Jurgen Klopp’s side as per Chris Bascombe of the Telegraph, who says the Egyptian will have to wait to make his debut for the Reds as he needs to secure his work visa.

Captain Jordan Henderson could feature after a long absence, though, as discussed in the below preview video which talks through the whole Liverpool side that could be picked to play at Prenton Park.

The Reds took on Tranmere at the same stage of pre-season last year, and a goal by Danny Ings – who isn’t quite ready to feature this week – separated the two Merseyside outfits.

Striker Dominic Solanke is in line to play for Liverpool for the first time since making the switch from Chelsea, while Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho are unlikely to take part as they returned to training later than their teammates.

Emre Can is still resting up following his involvement in Germany’s Confederations Cup success.
