Liverpool Predicted XI: Manchester City (A)

Liverpool travel to the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening to face Manchester City in the second leg of their Champions League quarter final.

The Reds hold a massive 3-0 advantage from the first leg but they’ll know that the job is far from complete as City have the quality and the ability to score goals against any side in the world.

Ahead of what feels like one of Liverpool’s biggest games in a decade, the Reds have been struck with a number of injuries and a suspension, but Jurgen Klopp still has a couple of decisions to make regarding his team selection.

Here’s the XI that I think he’ll select:

Loris Karius

The clear number one. He’s made a few excellent saves in recent weeks and he might be needed to pull out a few more at the Etihad.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Recovered from a few poor weeks to put in an outstanding display in the first leg. Was given a rest for the Merseyside derby, which suggests he’ll play in this one.

Dejan Lovren

With Joel Matip out for the season, we’re going to see a lot of Lovren between now and the summer.

Virgil van Dijk

A colossus. Walk around him.

Andrew Robertson

Recovered from a slight calf issue to train on Monday night so should start at left-back.

Gini Wijnaldum

With Jordan Henderson suspended and Emre Can injured, it falls to Wijnaldum to anchor the midfield.

James Milner

Milner has been in exceptional form recently and will be looking to put on a show at his old stomping ground.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Has scored in his last two games against City. Will be hoping to make it three from three on Tuesday.

Mohamed Salah

Back fit and ready to train, it’s a huge boost for Liverpool to have Salah fit to start.

Sadio Mane

Mane has also scored in his last two games against City (let’s not talk about the last trip to the Etihad!).

Roberto Firmino

Given a break in the derby, Firmino will look to hustle and harry and use his quality to create goals.
