Liverpool’s victory over Wolves on Sunday was once again clouded in VAR controversy.
Sadio Mane’s opener was initially ruled out for handball by Adam Lallana, before being overturned.
Then, Pedro Neto thought he had equalised, only for Jonny to be in an offside position earlier in the move.
There have been claims that Virgil van Dijk actually handled the ball in the lead-up to Mane’s goal, with former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys particularly vocal about it on Twitter:
I thought ‘handball’ in the build up to a goal was illegal – so how come VR missed this? pic.twitter.com/w5euOldY3i

Television images suggest the ball never struck the Dutchman’s hand, however, with still frames making it look as though he did:
There is absolutely no way you can say that this was handball from Virgil Van Dijk…. https://t.co/RdQ2XYNNM3

Frankly, this all feels like another attempt to claim there is some sort of VAR ‘conspiracy’ working in Liverpool’s favour this season.
The fact is that the Reds are the best team, blowing everyone else out of the water, and rival supporters can’t accept it.
Liverpool have been on the receiving end of a number of bad decisions, as well as benefiting from some, too.
That is the case with every team, but they aren’t winning every game like the Reds, so it isn’t being highlighted.
