Liverpool Player Ratings: Wolves (H)

Club World champions Liverpool weren’t at their best but still managed to scrap to a 1-0 win against a disciplined Wolves side at Anfield to end 2019 on the highest possible note.

Sadio Mane scored the only goal of the game, one that was initially chalked off by the referee, but VAR rightly overruled the decision. Wolves then thought Pedro Neto had equalised for them, however, VAR chalked that goal off due to Jonny being marginally offside in the buildup.

In game that was tight from the first second, the Reds broke through with a long ball from Virgil van Dijk finding Adam Lallana, who shouldered the ball into the path of Mane to score.

The Reds had chances to open the scoring before that, when Mohamed Salah missed a good opportunity and Roberto Firmino had his shot blocked.

Wolves came into it in the second half, and had two decent chances to het a strikr on goal later on, but both of those attempts were skied well over the bar.

It was a scrappy performance from the Reds, but they won’t care one bit as they go into 2020 13 points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand.

Here’s how we rated their players after the game:
