Liverpool will have to wait for Ings

Burnley have issued a ‘hands off’ warning to Liverpool, in this window but have not ruled out a move in the Summer for Danny Ings.

Liverpool made a £4million bid for Ings according to the Liverpool Echo but Burnley insisted they had no intentions of selling their striker before Monday’s deadline.

The 22-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season but with Burnley in 17th and just a single point ahead of the drop, the Clarets really need their talisman up front to secure their survival.

Initially when they made the offer, they wanted to loan him back to his current team until May but Premier League regulations, these plans were against the rules.

As a result, Rodgers must wait until May in order to sign but since he is under the age of 24 and will be a free agent, the Reds would need to pay Burnley around £3million in compensation.

Burnley chief executive Lee Hoos reacted to the reports on Burnley’s official club website in relation to a loan back to Burnley, “This type of move would violate Premier League rule V7 regarding transfers so simply cannot happen.

“This is the last time we will be making any comment regarding the player’s future.”

“Over the course of the window, the player himself, Sean Dyche and the chairman have made it clear he won’t be going anywhere and we consider that the end of the matter.”

For those who don’t know what Premier League Rule 7 states, it states a player who is exchanged between Premier League clubs cannot be purchased and loaned back in the same window.

This season, the Clarets striker has netted seven times in nineteen appearances, he has a shot accuracy of 38% in those nineteen appearances. Last season, his twenty-one goals for Sean Dyche’s side sent them to the top flight of English football.
