A number of Belgian teams are looking to sign Taiwo Awoniyi

Liverpool are trying to extend the contract of young starlet Taiwo Awoniyi after  a number of Belgian clubs have shown an interest in him report Sport/Foot, as translated by Sport Witness.

The Nigerian has impressed on loan at Royal Excel Mouscron, where he has amassed 10 goals and eight assists in 31 appearances this season for the top division strugglers.

Anderlecht and Club Brugge are thinking about making permanent bids for the 20-year-old, while Gent are hoping to conclude a loan deal.

Club Brugge’s general director knows any deal will be hard to make due to his age and potential:

He belongs to Liverpool, it’s all on them. They believe he has qualities and we can’t exactly rival them.

The centre-forward would be keen to move to a Belgian side especially if they have European football next season, but ultimately has his heart set on being offered a new deal from Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp is apparently thinking about making him an offer, allowing his dream of eventually playing in the Premier League to move one step closer.

Mouscron’s director has stated that the youngster has the perfect attitude, asserting Awoniyi’s desire to make it in England as a big motivation

Taiwo wants to 1000% become a Premier League player. Everything is so clear in his head. It’s his dream and he’ll achieve it.
