AC Milan and Lazio eye summer move for Lallana

AC Milan and Lazio are keen on signing Adam Lallana at the end of this season, according to Calciomercato, via Sport Witness.

The 31-year-old is expected to leave Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of the campaign, having spent six years at Anfield.

Lallana isn’t without potential suitors, with Leicester City emerging as one recently, and now Milan and Lazio thought to be in the mix.

Milan apparently thought about a move for the midfielder in January, but decided to wait until the summer instead.

Meanwhile, Lazio think qualifying for the Champions League could make them an interesting proposition to Lallana.

The time is right for Lallana to move on, in my opinion, as he reaches the end of his contract.

Despite being viewed as a positive influence in the dressing room, the Englishman has been an inconsistent performer for too long, scoring and assisting just once in the Premier League since May 2017.

Lallana has also suffered constant injury problems, and while that hasn’t been the case this season, there is no guaranteeing that his issues won’t return, which makes offering him a new deal a risk.

The ex-Southampton man is also one of the club’s highest earners, taking home £110,000 a week, so him leaving could free-up funds for new players.

Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz is a midfielder who has been linked with Liverpool, with the German 11 years Lallana’s junior, and he could be an ideal replacement for the former England international.
