Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has opened up about why he believes the Merseyside Derby against Everton is a bigger game than facing Manchester United.
For many Liverpool fans, Manchester United are a bigger rival to the Reds than their city rivals Everton, with United’s deep-rooted rivalry coming from the close proximity of the two cities, and the fact that both clubs head up the success charts among English football clubs.

However, despite the historic and bitter rivalry with the Red Devils, Alexander-Arnold believes the Toffees are a more meaningful derby game. As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, Alexander-Arnold said:
I’d say it’s my favourite game (the Merseyside Derby). Growing up in the city you know more Evertonians than Mancs.
I’d say the Everton game for me is the bigger.
I know so many people who support Everton so it’s always good to get one over on them.
It’s good as well because we haven’t been beaten by them for so long.
Alexander-Arnold was just 11 months old the last time the Blues won at Anfield.
