Arsenal keen on signing Liverpool target Ben White

Arsenal are eyeing up a move for Leeds United star Ben White this summer, according to Football Insider.

White has shone for the Championship leaders this season, starting every league game for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Liverpool have been tipped to make a move for the young centre-back, but Arsenal have now emerged as a contender.

The Gunners ‘have joined the elite club’s’ in expressing an interest in White, who is on loan from Brighton.

On the face of it, Arsenal could be a more appealing proposition than Liverpool for White, considering he could have an easier path into the first-team at the Emirates.

The north Londoners have been criticised for being porous at the back, with the likes of Shkodran Mustafi and David Luiz flattering to deceive, Meanwhile, the Reds have Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and even Dejan Lovren to call upon.

Despite this, I think White should look at the bigger picture and realise he could grow more as a player at Anfield, honing his skills alongside the incomparable Van Dijk.

White has an 85.3 per cent pass completion rate this season, displaying his ball-playing ability from the back – a key attribute that is needed for defenders in the current Liverpool side.

At 22, some patience would be required before he potentially became a regular for the Reds, but he could be a useful fourth-choice centre-back, replacing the possibly outgoing Lovren.

The lure of trophies, playing under Jurgen Klopp and representing the best team in the world could be too much to turn down, should Liverpool’s interest end up being genuine.
