Barcelona interested in signing rumoured Liverpool target Traore

Barcelona are interested in signing Adama Traore from Wolves this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old has shone in the Premier League this season, scoring four goals and registering seven assists.

Manchester City have twice felt the wrath of Traore, with the Spaniard finding the net three times against them in 2019/20.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the speedy winger and Barcelona are now being tipped to seal a reunion with him. Wolves are reported to value Traore at £75 million.

I would be shocked if Liverpool were willing to spend £75 million on Traore, especially considering they paid the same amount for Virgil van Dijk. Traore has only produced the goods for one season in the top flight, so far, so Wolves demanding as much as £75 million seems over-the-top.

While the wide man deserves credit for a much improved season in terms of productivity – he only got one league goal and assist apiece last season – he is not worthy of such a price tag.

If Liverpool signed him, I don’t believe it would be as a regular starter, considering the brilliance of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, so it is impossible to justify spending so much on a back-up.

If he were to become available at a much cheaper price, I could see the value in the Reds taking a risk on Traore as they could look to polish his all-round game and make him an impact substitute.

I still have doubts about whether or not Traore could adapt to a change in style, however, with Wolves tending to be a counter-attacking team and Liverpool more a possession-based side.

His pass completion rate of 73.1 per cent in the league this season is comfortably inferior to Salah (77.2%) and Mane’s (81.4%), suggesting he concedes possession more regularly.
