Kylian Mbappe has suggested that he could stay put at Paris Saint-Germain beyond this season, acting as a blow to Liverpool.
The Frenchman’s future is still up in the air, with his contract expiring in 2022 and the striker not yet agreeing a new deal with the Ligue 1 champions.
Liverpool have been considered a front-runner to sign Mbappe in recent months, but his latest comments could put paid to their chances of snapping him up.
Speaking to AS after PSG’s 2-0 win away to Marseille on Sunday, in which he scored the opening goal, Mbappe hinted that he won’t be leaving the French giants any time soon:
I have already played 150 games with the PSG jersey, which is an honour for me and I hope that many more I will play here.

It appears as though Mbappe is happy at PSG, although his comments shouldn’t be taken too seriously. He may have been speaking in the heat of the moment and the fact that he is yet to sign a new contract shows he may be weighing up his options.
At a time when plenty is being made of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino getting older and long-term reinforcements needed, Mbappe ticks all the boxes to come in.
At 22, he should have around a decade at the top, and his world-class combination of speed, skill and end product make him tailor-made to be Liverpool’s next superstar signing.
Mbappe could cost a vast amount, which is a possible stumbling block, but 108 goals and 59 assists in 150 games for PSG speak volumes about his quality.
