Liverpool are closing in on a deal to bring Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Adam Bogdan to the club, reports The Guardian.
The Hungarian international is out of contract come July 1, after the stopper rejected a new contract offer from Wanderers.
If the 27 year-old was to move to Anfield; the chances are he’d be back-up to Simon Mignolet. This is no doubt an area Liverpool need to address, with back-up ‘keeper Brad Jones’ contract not being renewed.
The Guardian say that Rodgers wanted a goalkeeper who could challenge Mignolet for his place in January – however, with the Belgian’s resurgence in form, Rodgers is satisfied with Mignolet as his number one.
With Bogdan available on a free, it leaves the transfer budget to be focused on other transfer targets.
Bogdan, is training with Hungary at the moment, in preparation for their Euro 2016 qualifier with Finland, and the agreement between him and Liverpool could potentially be announced sometime this week.
The Bolton man would be Liverpool’s third signing, in what has already been a busy window for the Reds, and it’s not even opened officially yet.
