Bournemouth had a £14m bid for Besiktas defender and Liverpool target Domagoj Vida turned down this summer, Turkish Football reports.
The Cherries reportedly remain keen on Vida and could make another bid to sign the Croatian defender in the January transfer window.
However it is believed that Bournemouth’s opening bid for Vida is far wide of Besiktas’ £20m valuation of their star player.
Vida, who helped Croatia reach their first ever World Cup final this summer, was persistently linked with a move to Anfield over the summer after several impressive performances in Russia.
The Evening Standard had previously reported that the Reds were interested in signing Vida as well as that Arsenal were pondering over making a bid of £26.9m for the centre-back.
However, Vida remained at Besiktas and the 29-year-old is currently one of the club’s first-choice centre-backs, usually playing alongside Pepe.
