- Alisson is contracted to Liverpool until 2027
- However, there are uncertainties around his future at Anfield beyond this summer
- Juventus have identified him as a ‘dream’ target
Fabrizio Romano has provided a major update on Liverpool number one goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s future, as Juventus make a serious push to bring the Brazilian back to Serie A.
While the goalkeeper remains a integral to Liverpool squad, rumours of a potential return to Italy have intensified this April, though recent reports suggest Juventus may be pivoting toward more cost-effective option due to Alisson’s high wage demands.
Since arriving at Anfield, Alisson has cemented his status as one of the greatest goalkeepers in the club’s history. In July 2018, Liverpool secured Alisson from AS Roma in a deal that briefly made him the most expensive goalkeeper in football history.
Here is a breakdown of his arrival and his trophy-laden career with the Reds.
The Brazil international has helped the Merseyside-based club win every major trophy, including the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
| Competition | Year(s) Won |
| Premier League | 2019–20 |
| UEFA Champions League | 2018–19 |
| FIFA Club World Cup | 2019 |
| UEFA Super Cup | 2019 |
| FA Cup | 2021–22 |
| EFL (Carabao) Cup | 2021–22, 2023–24 |
| FA Community Shield | 2022 |
However, it appears Alisson’s time in L4 might soon be coming to an end, despite the six-time European champions taking up the option to extend his contract until 2027.
Alisson agrees to Juventus transfer
There have been talks about Juventus being interested in signing Alisson this summer, and now, Romano has confirmed it.
The transfer journalist reported via X (22 April) that the Serie A giants have identified the 33-year-old as their ‘dream’ target to strengthen their goalkeeping department.
Alisson, for his part, ‘likes’ the idea of returning to Italy, having spent two years there.
However, he remains respectful of Liverpool and is keen to discuss his future with the club first, with talks scheduled to take place in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Matteo Moretto reported via Romano’s YouTube channel that there is already a verbal agreement between Juventus and Alisson.
The ball is now thought to be in the Reds’ court. It remains to be seen what their plans for the shot-stopper are, and how much they would demand for him if they agree to sell him.
Therefore, it remains to be seen if the Anfield outfit will open the door for Alisson to depart this summer.

Selling Alisson would be madness from Liverpool
Arne Slot may have disbanded the leadership group set up by Jurgen Klopp, but there is no denying that Alisson is one of the most respected members of the squad.
Selling him in the same summer that Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson are departing would be nothing but madness.
While it is true that the Reds are in a state of transition, with linchpins from the Klopp era departing one by one, we are also in need of leaders to keep things afloat.
If Alisson leaves, Virgil van Dijk would be the only remaining player from Klopp’s Champions League final-winning squad of 2019.
Van Dijk also appears to be nearing the end of his stint at Anfield, with his deal expiring next summer, and could do with some help from a figure like Alisson.
Furthermore, it is worth noting that the Brazilian is still one of the best goalkeepers around, although he has shown signs of age and injuries catching up to him.
Giorgi Mamardashvili has a bright future ahead of him, but I am not sure if he is capable enough to take over from Alisson just yet.
