Liverpool centre-forward Christian Benteke has revealed that there has not been a moment where he has wanted to leave the club.
The ex-Aston Villa striker has faced his critics in recent months due to his poor goal return of eight in 27 appearances in all competitions this season but he scored the winner from the penalty spot against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon.
Reports in January suggested that the Belgian was subject of a big-money move to China to join the likes of Ramires, Gael Kakuta, Liverpool-linked Alex Teixeira and other big names who made the move during the winter transfer window, but Benteke claimed, as reported by the Daily Express, that he did not want to leave Liverpool.

In my mind, I was never thinking about a move. I didn’t want to leave. I’ve still enough ambition and enough character to fight in difficult moments. I don’t give up easily. I fight until the end.
It’s not the easiest of situations, but you have to be ready. It’s in the most difficult situations that the real warriors, the tough men and determined guys stand-up.
In a career, you’ll have top moments, also your difficult times. You have to be up for it. I have to take every chance, every minute the manager gives me.
One minute, five minutes, ten minutes, half an hour. Divock Origi had been working hard on Sunday. So it was a bit easier to come on.
Of course, it frustrates me, but that’s football. On Sunday, there were eight international players out of the 11. So I’m not competing against nobodies. I just have to accept the competition.

The 25-year-old faces stiff competition from the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi for a place in the starting XI, both of whom have impressed when allowed the opportunity to be the sole striker for the Reds.
