Craig Bellamy: Liverpool’s support can propel the Reds to European glory

Liverpool’s supporters can carry their side to Champions League glory this season, claims Craig Bellamy.

The Reds comfortably dispatched of potential champions-in-waiting Manchester City at Anfield 3-0 in their first leg of the quarter-finals, thus moving one step closer to the semi-finals of Europe’s elite competition.

Goals from Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sadio Mane ensured that the Reds will travel to Manchester next week with a three-goal advantage, with the added bonus that they didn’t concede an away goal against the Citizens.

Pep Guardiola’s side that appeared to struggle under the Anfield lights throughout, as the hosts were backed a voiceforous crowd of over 50,000 throughout.

Ex-Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy, who himself has had the priviledge of witnessing these special European nights as a player, believes that the Merseyside contingent could play a pivotal role in Jurgen Klopp side’s push in Europe.

He told The Debate on Sky Sports.

The intensity of Liverpool, I felt it there at Anfield tonight.

Bellamy, who reached the final of the Champions League during his first spell at Liverpool – managed then by Rafael Benitez in 2007, added:

The fans can carry you through the quarter-finals, the semi-finals, all the way”. They know they’ve got the experience to pull their team through”  They’re there from the warm up so as soon as you go out the stadium’s full – they’re ready. I remember they even had the stadium rocking for a League Cup semi-final.
