Virgil van Dijk’s Netherlands teammate Matthijs de Ligt has reportedly decided to snub interest from Liverpool and Manchester United to join Juventus this summer.
The Serie A champions look to have won the high-profile race for one of the most sought-after talents in Europe and are likely to be getting him for just €70million.
According to Sky in Italy, De Ligt has opted for a move to Italy from Ajax after a phenomenal season, in which he helped his side win the Dutch domestic double and reach the Champions League semi-finals.
The 19-year-old has snubbed interest from Man United, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, and has also previously talked up a move to Liverpool to play alongside his national partner Van Dijk.
De Ligt could be Maurizio Sarri’s first signing as Juventus manager after leaving Chelsea earlier this month.
A new centre-back isn’t expected to arrive at Anfield this summer, meaning next season could be the year Joe Gomez can cement his place as a crucial part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans in defence.
